I found out today that a friend I have not seen for a long time passed away 4 years ago. I am in Missouri for the first time and that is where she lived, so I wanted to look up and see how close I was to her. I was in shock to instead, find her obituary. She was only 50.
I met Jamie when we moved into the Pleasant Grove house that we called the Wiscombe home, (that was the name of our landlords). She home schooled her children, played violin I believe it was, very well. Was chorustor at church, ate very healthy natural food, and just smiled and made you feel good. Very down to earth, priority was Heavenly Father and doing what needed to be done to be closer to Him.
Jamie was a good friend and confidant. With that, I still had not told her my whole story. One day, after we had moved away, she and I went to the Timpanogas temple together. We were sitting in the celestial room and I felt impressed to tell her my story. We sat in there for a long time and laughed and cried, and amazingly enough, she knew someone that was working closely with Nedra. She asked if I wanted her to introduce us, I said yes. This was just one of the amazing things that came of Heavenly Father placing her in my life. Jamie introduced me to Scott Lazerson and Scott asked if he could come over with Tarah's nanny. I of course said yes. Scott talked to me a couple of times and told me stories about Tarah asking about her real mother. He also told me about her disliking her size of foot and wondered who gave her the size 9 feet!! The former nanny started crying right when she saw me, I asked if she was ok and she said you just look so much like her.
Jamie made that happen. Because she did, I found out immediately when Tarah died, Jamie is the one who called me. She knew about my connection with Tarah for a very short time before Tarah died, and I probably would not have found out for quite a while without her. As it was, I was able to drive down and be in the vicinity for the funeral.
The last time I saw Jamie was a couple of years after she had moved to Virginia Beach VA with her family. They had been there for a while and she loved it. They did not take very many possessions and she was loving the new aspect of her life. She was playing violin (pretty sure that is what it was) for a local orchestra and loving that also. They were talking about moving to Missouri near Steves family and she was not at all sure she wanted to do that, she was so at home in Virginia. She was trying to work that out. We had gone to a park in Cedar City/Highland area that we called the Minnow Park because the kids caught minnows in the lake. We sat and talked forever. She insisted on rubbing my feet while we talked, she was learning a new methodology of something and just had to try it on me. The foot rub felt good but I told her I felt so funny having her do that. She dismissed that with a smile. I will forever remember that day, the sun, the talking, laughing, always some crying happy and sad, and the foot rub.
What a great lady, someone I had admired for how she was living her life, struggling like us all, but choosing the right. One of those ladies that fit the saying, Make Satan say, oh no, shes awake again.
I imagine she is making heaven a much better place to be, and I hope she gave Tarah a hug when she arrived, and talked for a while.
